A funny thing happened on the way to the coffee shop

So, today was the day.  Well, actually March 1st was the day, but I didn’t get to see it until today. After a couple of months of collaboration with Chloe, contributor of Spoke + Blossom, the article about my journey to step foot on all seven continents in a single calendar year was published in the Spring 2024 edition of their magazine.

The process was new to me.  A bunch of interview questions with written answers.  The request for some of my favorite photos of the year.  Some clarification questions as the article came together, and finally a last minute push for descriptions and details of the photos.

The intimidating part is that I had no idea what would be written or how it would be portrayed and what photos would be selected until this morning, reading it at Kiln Coffee Bar for the first time.  All of this after it had already been to print. 😬

I love Kiln Coffee Bar, the coffee and also the owners + staff.  After ordering my vanilla latte, I sat down to read the article for the first time. It was the perfect place to cozy up and read, hands sweaty and nervous with anticipation.

It’s a big deal. It’s also a bit intimidating but I am happy with how it turned out and was shocked with the amount of real estate in the magazine that was allotted to the story and more specifically, the photographs.
