Panama Canal Bound
My life has been filled with a LOT of sea days lately. After 8 in a row on the Alaska to Japan cruise just 3 weeks ago, I am currently on day 3 of 4 before the Carnival Spirit arrives in Cabo.
A sea day, as explained previously is simply a full day of sailing in the high seas without a port stop. Think of it like a floating all-inclusive hotel bound for the next destination. I love sea days, even when they are daisy-chained together. While some people love the destinations, I enjoy the forced relaxation and opportunity to try new activities that a sea day entails.
The weather has been cool, as expected, but nice overall and the seas have been relatively calm.
There’s been some casino time (not doing well, at all), slogan trivia, an attempt at the piano bar (this performer is not my cup of tea), a juggler, multiple rounds of bingo, gay happy hour each night at the Alchemy Bar, and of course food + coffee. Maybe the most surprising update, only a single espresso martini this far. 🍸(I am fine, I PROMISE)
I’ve been staying up far too late. 3a, 1:45a looking at the spectacular northern lights show on Thursday night, and then up until 1a last night. I rolled over at 7a this morning, shut my curtains and slept past 9a. A perfect starting to a Saturday. 14 more days before we disembark In New Orleans.
Ohhhh, and of course there has been plenty of hot tub time, and the ship actually holds the record for the hottest hot tub on any cruise ship that I’ve been on. They tend to be warm but never hot. This one is quite warm and delightful.
There is only 1 guest under 18 onboard. The now famous 14 year old. Overall, the ship is nowhere near capacity, which is also a surprise of any recent sailing post-COVID restrictions.
The food has been excellent, and I tend to order multiple appetizers each dinner and they’ve all been delightful. Dinner at a shared table of eight, usually means I create new connections as a solo traveler, however the first night nobody else showed up and the last 2 nights only one other solo traveler has dined, but it’s a connection and I appreciate his company.
Work has certainly been keeping me busy, and I am very appreciative of that. Yall are amazing supports and I could live this life without your continued support and business, so a heartfelt thank you is being sent out I got he world from the central CA coast as we head down towards Cabo and eventually a full transit thru the Panama Canal.
Signing off for now
